Yesterday Liberty and I were out doing some shopping. Just about every corner we turned there was another grandma who wanted to stop and talk to her. Each time these women were smitten with her big blue eyes and chubby cheeks. One woman in particular kept talking to her and Liberty smiled. It was a whole body filled with joy kind of smile. Instantly this sweet woman was filled with the same joy. She smiled back at Liberty and said, "Oh look at that smile. What a precious gift. Thank you for that wonderful gift." I thought about the word "gift" the rest of the day. Being a mother is the most demanding responsibility. It's filled with many ups and downs. But there is so much joy and "gifts" And all I have to do is slow down and notice them.
