For the first few weeks of your little one's life bathing isn't necessary, but it's important to keep them clean. Milk and spit up, among other things, can build up and irritate skin on their face, neck, thighs and behind. It's important to keep these places clean with a gentle sponge bath.

After a few weeks, your baby's umbilical cord should fall off naturally. This is the sign that they can now be bathed in a baby bathtub or non-slip sink insert like the Puj Tub! If you are using a baby bathtub, place the tub on a safe surface or floor, and fill with a few inches of warm water."The ideal temperature is 98.6°F (between 37°C and 38°C). You can use a bath thermometer to monitor the temperature, or check the water with your wrist or elbow to confirm it’s warm and not hot." Healthline
Preparing the Tub
Having a non-slip sink insert such as the Puj Tub is a lifesaver. As a new parent, it’s natural to be concerned about your baby squirming during bath time. The Puj Tub will allow you to safely wash and clean every part of your newborn. As your baby comfortably rests in the soft, nonslip tub, your back will feel relieved – no more uncomfortable leaning. An added bonus is the Puj Tub is easy to clean! All you have to do is hang to dry.
Even if you are using the Puj Tub or other infant bath tubs for bath time, you must always supervise your baby. Never leave a child unattended around water, not even for a second!
Make sure that everything you need for bath time is within reach so that your newborn never has to be left unattended. That would include a towel, washcloths, shampoo, lotion or ointment, a fresh set of clothes and a diaper.
Newborn Bath Tips
Wash cloths are helpful when cleaning chubby rolls, and as your little one gets older, they may enjoy chewing on the rinsed cloth as well. With a moistened and soap-free wash cloth, wipe your baby’s eyes, face, and behind the ear folds. You’ll also want to get in between their folds to clean out all that baby gunk.
Cover your baby with a wet and warm muslin blanket as you bathe them so they feel warm and secure!
Use a delicate shampoo, such as Newborn 2-in-1 Hair & Body Wash to clean baby's hair 1 to 2 times a week. Shampooing more often than this may dry out or irritate their sensitive skin.
Newborn 2-in-1 Hair & Body Wash gently cleans hair and body without removing natural moisture from skin. The calming formula rebalances skin's pH, and provitamin B and vitamin E keep hair healthy and shiny. It is mild enough for daily use, and can be used on newborns and babies with sensitive skin.
For babies with extra sensitive skin, a Fragrance-Free version of Newborn 2-in-1 is available. It’s been awarded the Seal of Acceptance by the National Eczema Association, so you can be assured that your newborn’s delicate skin is protected.
Once bath time is over, follow up with Super Soft Lotion to keep your baby’s skin soft and hydrated. Apply some of our Delicate Baby Powder to reduce friction and absorb moisture. Now your baby is freshly clean and smelling yummy!
